Why buy a car from Japan?

Importing a car from Japan has a number of compelling advantages. Firstly, it offers access to rare and uniquely equipped vehicles, the likes of which are often hard to find in Europe. Secondly, there is a significant price difference, with Japanese auctions offering an affordable alternative to the local market. Third, these vehicles are generally in very good condition, with minimal rust, which also adds to their attractiveness and durability.

Description of process

  1. Contact – Contacting us is necessary before moving forward with the purchase process to find the ideal solution for you and to make the whole process as smooth and quick as possible for both parties. We will explain the nuances of ordering a car from Japan in more detail and answer any questions you may have.
  2. Deposit – In order to start bidding, a deposit of 25% of the auction value of the offered car is required. After the deposit, you will be granted access to the auction page with our guest account, which will have full access to every section.
  3. Vehicle search and bidding – Once we have received confirmation that your deposit has been received, we will help you to select the most suitable vehicle, explain how to interpret the information on the auction form and explain the bidding process.
  4. Payment – In the event of a successful bid, we will send you an initial invoice.
  5. Transport – Upon receipt of payment confirmation, the vehicle will be loaded into a container. We will inform the customer as soon as possible and as soon as possible of the vehicle’s departure and arrival, we will also send you the tracking number of the container.
  6. Paperwork and delivery – Upon arrival of the vehicle in Estonia, we will send you the last invoice and, if necessary, we will deliver the vehicle to you with the necessary documents.

Costs incurred when importing a car from Japan

Initial Invoice (After a Successful Bid):

  • Price of the vehicle at auction
  • Inland transportation in Japan including auction fees 1100€
  • Securing a vehicle inside a shipping container, along with documentation fees 200€
  • Kauritel OÜ fee for overseeing the purchase and transportation of the vehicle

Second Invoice (Upon Car’s Arrival in Estonia,):

  • Container shipping charges 1000€
  • Port fees 300€
  • Import taxes, including declarations Typically 10%
  • Truck transportation fee for Estonian inland 200€
  • Container unloading and import documentation 200€

The total amounts of both invoices will include a 22% Value Added Tax (VAT).

Our fees are determined by the value of the vehicle. For vehicles priced up to 25,000€, the fee is fixed at 1200€ plus VAT. For vehicles exceeding this price, additional discussion is necessary. For an additional fee, we’re available to assist with the vehicle registration process.

Vehicles newer than 1997:

Certificate of Conformity (CoC) 600€

Vehicle Approval by DMV 205€

Registration 192€

Vehicles older than 1997 do not need Certificate of Conformity.
